PT Sinar Rasa Kencana (SRK) is a wholly owned private company and was founded in 1982.  It was first established primarily to supply glass to the growing automotive industry in Indonesia.  Using the latest Japanese technology, SRK introduced the "Fujiwara" Trademark for its tempered automotive glass.  SRK soon dominated the local carroserie market as well as the replacement glass market in Indonesia.

By 1989, SRK had diversified into the architectural tempered glass market.  The world's longest tempering line was installed that is capable of tempering glass panels up to 7000 mm long by 2140 mm wide.  In 1990, SRK applied for, and was granted an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for processing the longest piece of tempered glass.  The recognition from the Guinness Book of Records still stands today.

The large capacity of the tempering line prompted SRK to invest heavily in pre-processing equipment from 1992 till the present.  These machines, supplied mainly from European manufacturers, not only boosted the production capacity, but also improved the tolerances and quality of the finished glass.  At present, SRK has three automatic cutting lines, three CNC double-edging machines, two CNC Intermac shape-edging machines and various other preprocessing equipment.

Foreseeing in increased demand in laminated glass, SRK invested in a laminating line, which was commissioned in 1995.  Laminated glass from SRK was quickly and widely accepted domestically and regionally.  Now, many of the most modern and beautiful buildings in Indonesia and the region are clad using SRK laminated glass.

The innovative spirit that is the hallmark of this company continued in 1997 when SRK offered curved tempered glass into the market.  The very first second-generation Advanced Bending and Tempering System from Glasstech was installed and went on-line in May that year.  SRK now has the ability to process laminated curved tempered glass, one of the most difficult products to manufacture in the industry.

Presently, SRK employs about 200 people; 130 in the production plant in Tangerang, and 70 administration staff in its sales office in Jakarta.  The production plant covers an area of approximately 55,000 sqm with adequate room for future expansion.  The company's total output reached an average 420,000 sqm of glass annually.  In 1997, its total investment passed the US$ 10 million figure.

1982 PT Sinar Rasa Kencana founded SRK started to produce tempered windshields and sidelites.
1989 Architectural tempered glass A large capacity horizontal tempering line was installed that is capable of producing glass panels up to 7000 x 2140 mm with thickness 3 - 19 mm.
1990 Guinness Book of World Records SRK was granted an entry into the 1990 Guinness Book of World Records for the largest piece of tempered glass at 7000 x 2140 mm.
1992 - present Addition of pre-processing machinery SRK invested heavily into pre-producing equipment which includes:
  • 3 CNC shape-cutting tables.
  • 3 multi-spindle double edgers.
  • 2 CNC shape-edging machines.
  • 5 semi-automatic shape edging machines.
  • 2 automatic drilling machines.
1995 Laminated glass SRK diversified into the laminated glass industry.
1996 Bent tempered glass SRK installed a second tempering furnace that is capable of producing curved tempered glass panels of up to 2140 x 3660 mm with thickness from 5 - 19 mm.
